Jennifer Yu Sacro’s practice focuses on general and complex litigation in state and federal courts.  She has broad-based experience representing businesses and individuals in litigation arising out of commercial contracts, insurance coverage and related bad faith claims, employment relationships, commercial real estate transactions, unfair competition and business practices, and class actions. Her clients have included businesses in the insurance, real estate, food and beverage, franchise, healthcare and entertainment industries. She is frequently engaged to serve as lead counsel for major insurers in complex, multi-party coverage litigation throughout the country.  Ms. Sacro also is experienced in corporate law, having advised corporations, partnerships and limited liability companies on corporate governance matters.

Ms. Sacro is admitted to practice before all California state courts, as well as before the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals and the United States District Court for the Central, Eastern and Northern Districts of California.  She has received a Martindale-Hubbell® AV Preeminent peer rating and is licensed by the California Department of Real Estate as a broker.

Representative Matters

  • Represented a national insurer in a coverage dispute involving “lost policies,” successfully tried to a jury.
  • Represented national insurers in a complex, environmental coverage action involving dozens of other insurers, bad faith claims, and hundreds of millions of dollars in disputed excess coverage.
  • Represented a leading fast-food franchise in a Proposition 65 action.
  • Represented a theatrical producer in a contract dispute involving accounting and payment of royalties.
  • Represented a national insurer in a putative class action involving employment claims.
  • Served as liaison counsel in various multi-plaintiff and multi-defendant actions.

Education

Ms. Sacro earned her Juris Doctor in 2000 from the University of California, Los Angeles, where she was a member of the Moot Court Honors Program.  She received a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from the University of California, Berkeley, where she was on the dean’s list.  Ms. Sacro is fluent in Tagalog.

Professional Activities

Ms. Sacro is a Vice Chair of the Insurance Coverage Litigation Committee for the American Bar Association Tort Trial & Insurance Practice Section.  She previously served on the board of the Philippine American Bar Association.
