Jone Tran’s practice focuses on insurance coverage disputes and counseling. She advises clients on first- and third-party coverage issues insurance law. She represents insurance carriers in breach of contract, bad faith, agent negligence, unfair competition, and declaratory relief actions. She provides both litigation and counseling services to address a broad range of issues facing insurance carriers. As a part of her practice of insurance law, Ms. Tran has successfully represented insurers in litigation involving complex uninsured/underinsured motorist issues and before the United States Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit, representing both parties and amici curiae. She represents insurance carriers in all aspects of litigation.

Ms. Tran also has notable legal experience working in the judiciary, at both the federal and state levels. She clerked in New Orleans for the Honorable Karen Wells Roby of the Eastern District of Louisiana. In Louisiana, Ms. Tran worked on numerous cases involving Hurricane Katrina and its aftermath. She also clerked for the Honorable Jennifer Gee and the Honorable Paul A. Mapes of the U.S. Department of Labor, where she worked on employment, labor, administrative law, and workers’ compensation matters. Finally, she externed for the Honorable Ignazio J. Ruvolo of the California Court of Appeals and the Honorable Edward M. Chen of the Northern District of California.

Ms. Tran is admitted to practice before all California state courts, the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals, and the United States District Court for the Central, Eastern, Northern, and Southern Districts of California.

Education

Ms. Tran graduated cum laude from the University of California College of the Law, San Francisco (previously the University of California, Hastings College of the Law), where she earned her Juris Doctorate.  She graduated cum laude from the University of California, Los Angeles, with Bachelor of Arts degrees in Business-Economics and Political Science.  Ms. Tran speaks Mandarin.
