Nancy’s practice focuses on business and commercial litigation in state and federal courts, where she has more than 20 years’ experience representing individuals and entities. She has an extensive law and motion and appellate practice, including certiorari petitions, writ petitions and principal briefs. Nancy has widespread experience in multiple areas of law, including intellectual property, employment, misappropriation of trade secrets, contract, tort, administrative and real estate. She has also done independent internal investigations and inter-partes proceedings. Her clients have included multinational corporations and businesses in the technology, real estate, toy, skin care and entertainment industries, as well as C-Level executives and entrepreneurs. Pro bono work includes representing an animal sanctuary. Prior to entering legal practice, Nancy was a law clerk to the Hon. Lynn N. Hughes, United States District Judge, Southern District of Texas.

Nancy is admitted to practice before all California state courts, the United States District Courts for the Central, Northern, Southern and Eastern Districts of California, the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals and the Federal Circuit Court of Appeals. She is admitted to the bars of the State of California, the District of Columbia and the United States Supreme Court.

Representative Matters

  • Obtained judgment for copyright owner whose dance and exercise videos had been unlawfully copied by distributor.
  • Obtained summary judgment for an individual against whom a corporation sought to enforce a foreign default judgment.
  • Obtained summary judgment on behalf of a real estate developer in a fraudulent transfer case.
  • Successfully defended large entertainment conglomerate against a lawsuit by a prominent celebrity alleging violations of publicity rights.
  • Obtained dismissal of federal court complaint in family partnership
  • Obtained recommendation of terminating sanctions against former business partner alleging claims for fraud and trademark infringement.
  • Obtained search and seizure order on behalf of gemologist in trademark counterfeiting and infringement case.

Education

Nancy received her Juris Doctor in 1999 from the University of Southern California Gould School of Law. She received a Bachelor of Arts in English from Barnard College of Columbia University.
